Edenbridge Town Council's report for July by town clerk Christine Lane

By Sigrid Sherrell in Community News

The Council was delighted that so many Edenbridge groups and organisations received awards at the recent SDC Community and Voluntary Making it Happen Awards ceremony.

The ECTreme Youth Group stole the show winning the top award for their category, Charity Project of the Year.

Nomads Football Club and the Edenbridge Community Warden received highly commended awards and certificates of achievement were awarded to the Great Stone Bridge Trust, Laura Burton-Lawrence, editor of Edenbridge Magazine, and Symone Salwan from Home Instead.

It was a splendid evening with Len Goodman of Strictly fame giving out some of the awards.

Edenbridge is now hoping to do well in the Edenbridge In Bloom competition with a number of applications already in with the winners announced in July. It is fantastic seeing the town’s success highlighted in the district and beyond.

Part of the award winning Community Warden’s activities include running the volunteer Speed Watch teams and the Edenbridge crew has been out and about making our town safer.

A number of vehicles have been logged entering or leaving Edenbridge at excessive speeds and have been recorded on the Kent data base. Warnings have been issued to repeat offenders and a hand delivered letter issued in the most serious case.

If you would like to be trained and join the team please contact the Community Warden on 07920 099235.
