Edinbridge 'banger' set for 1200 mile fundraising journey

This 20 year old Nissan Serena and its passengers from Edenbridge, will become a familiar sight - for at least four days anyway - on the roads of France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy, as it takes part in a Cannonball Run style rally.

Chris Pain, Peter Gordon, Lee Causon, Paul Murphy and Geoff Pain will be leaving Edenbridge on Wednesday, August 16, for Saint Omer in France, which is where the Two Ball Banger Rally starts and ends after a journey of 1200 miles.

The six friends will be competing against 50 other ageing vehicles - and they will all be in fancy dress- and they are hoping to raise money for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance. They hope to finish the challenge on Monday, August 20.

Chris Pain said: "As a registered charity the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance relies almost entirely on donations and needs to raise in excess of £6.5 million each year to fund the service. Thanks to the generosity of supporters, the air ambulance has attended over 25,000 incidents and continues to be available to every person living, working and travelling in our counties, should they ever need it."
